| Professional Background: | Dr Dang received his PhD degree (Cum Laude) in operations research/economics from Tilburg University, the Netherlands, in 1991, his MSc degree in applied mathematics from Xidian University, China, in 1986, and his BSc degree in computational mathematics from Shanxi University, China, in 1983. Dr Dang's research is in operations research/optimization and related fields. He is best known for developing the D1-triangulation of the Euclidean space and simplicial methods for integer programming. Because of these significant contributions, Dr Dang has been invited to give special talks on his creative work at universities such as Cornell University, Stanford University, the University of Michigan, the University of Minnesota, and so on, and to work as a Research Fellow at Yale University in 1994. His research papers have been published in journals such as Mathematical Programming, Mathematics of Operations Research, Neural Networks, SIAM Journal on Optimization, the Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, the Journal of Global Optimization, the Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, the Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, and Computational Optimization and Applications. Before joining City University of Hong Kong in 1998, he was Assistant Professor at the University of Auckland from 1993 to 1998, and Delft University of Technology from 1992 to 1993, and at the University of California from 1991 to 1992. | |
