    Ho-mun Chan is Associate Professor in the Department of Public and Social Administration, City University of Hong Kong. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a BA and an MPhil in Philosophy, and from the University of Sussex with an MSc in Knowledge-Based Systems. In 1994, he received his PhD (Philosophy and Cognitive Science) from the University of Minnesota. His publications have focused on exploring comparative social and political philosophy, applied ethics and public policy, and philosophy of science and technology. They have appeared as articles in books and journals, including the Journal of Medicine and Philosophy, Chinese and International Philosophy of Medicine, and Cognitive Technology: In Search of a Humane Interface. He is Secretary of the Cognitive Technology Society, and regional editor (Asia and Australasia) of the new International Journal of Cognition and Technology, as well as executive editor of Values and Society. He is also member of the Clinical Ethics Committee of the Hospital Authority and Chairman of its working Group on Advance Directives.
