Types of Information Included

 

Research Projects: Project number, project title, name of researchers, synopsis, and funding source for each project.

 

Research Outputs: Research outputs, such as publications, conference papers, produced by each project principal investigator during the reporting period 2001-2002.

 

Researcher Profiles: Bibliographic data for each project principal investigator, including name, affiliated department or unit, correspondence details, expertise and research interests, and professional background.

Quick Search

Quick Search offers a full-text keywords search of research projects, research outputs and researcher profiles.

 

1)      Enter your search terms

a)      Input the word(s) or phrase(s) you wish to search for in the "Enter Keywords" box. The operators "AND" and "OR" are supported in this field only.

b)      If applicable, input in the "Exclude" box any specific term you wish to exclude from your search results.

2)      Select one or more search areas, or by default check all.

3)      Click the "Start Quick Search" button.

Search by specific criteria

The Criteria Search provides a fast way to find information from a particular field.

 

1)      Enter your search terms

Enter the word or phrase you wish to search for in one of the following search boxes: "Project Number", "Project Title", "Synopsis", "Output Title/Journal Title" and "Expertise".

2)      Click the “Start Criteria Search" button.

Search Tips

 

Operators "AND" and "OR"

The operators "AND" and "OR" are only supported in the "Enter Keywords" box in the Quick Search. For example:

 

AND - Use "AND" when all search terms must appear in each result. For example, ocean AND fish finds results that contain both Ocean and Fish.

OR - Use "OR" when at least one of the search terms must appear. For example, accounting OR company finds results that contain either Accounting or Company.

Reserved Words

 

Be aware that The search engine does not search Reserved Words including HTML tags.

Reserved Words are those common, frequently used words that add no significant distinction to a search request. The following are not searchable:

 

Reserved Words: “and, or, &, an, the, but, for, in, on, up, with, by, from, out , those, these, this, that, which, do, not, he, she, it, you, your, then, as, is, are, can, could, should, would, does, to, here, there, <i>,<p>,<br> etc".

My Selection

You can also maintain a list of results in your own selection for further reference.

 

Maintaining My Selection

 

1)      Add records to your selection

 

 

a)      In the Search Results page, use the checkboxes to select records you want to add.

b)      Click the "Add to My Selection" button.

c)      Click the "View My Selection" when you want to review your own list.

 

 

2)      Remove records from your selection

 

 

a)      In the My Selection page, use the checkboxes to select records you want to remove.

b)      Click the "Remove from My Selection" button.

c)      Click the "Search again" button to start over, or "Exit" to finish your search session.
